Children of Levi Nicholas Titsworth

In my research of Levi Nicholas Titsworth, I found that he married three times and had eleven children. His first wife was Julia Clementine Daniels and they had nine children. Following her death on March 5, 1873, Levi married Minerva Jane Basham Austin, a widow with one daughter.  Levi and Minerva had two more children. She died several years later, and Levi married Sally Howard. They had no children together.

When Tennessee “Tennie” Parilee Titsworth was born on January 11, 1852, in Bonham, Fannin, Texas, her father, Levi, was 21, and her mother, Julia, was 18. She married Alfred Brazzelton “Braz” Biggerstaff on June 9, 1872, in Fannin County. They had two children during their marriage. To view information about her children, click the following link. When Wincy Louisa Titsworth was born on May 20, 1855, in Bonham, Texas, her father, Levi, was 24, and her mother, Julia, was 21. She married Early Jackson “Jack” Calk on June 12, 1880, in Castroville, Texas. They had seven children together. To view information about their children, click on the following link. Family Group Sheet for Wincy Louisa Titsworth

Wincy Titsworth Calk with her grandchildren.

Note: Evidently Wincy had previously been married and had a 6 year old son named Levi Carlisle. One undocumented internet source gives the first husband’s name as Bell. However, it is also possible her child was born out of wedlock. I found Wincy and Levi Titsworth (not Bell) on the 1880 United States Federal Census in Atascosa County, Texas living with the John L. McCaleb family. The record states the relationship as “cousins.” Of course, this could mean they are cousins of John McCaleb or his wife, Elizabeth. As mentioned above, the census was taken a very short time before Early and Wincy married. Evidently, Early adopted Levi because he is later uses the name “Calk.”

Wincy died on January 28, 1908, at the age of 52. The location of her death and burial is not known at this time.

When Joseph “Joe” Titsworth was born on October 19, 1857, in Bonham, Fannin, Texas, his father, Levi, was 27 and his mother, Julia, was 23. He married Laura Julia Doan on September 14, 1885, in Dallas, Texas. They had six children in 22 years. To view information about his children, click on the following link.
